Since March 15th, all lectures and seminars are carried out remotely on ‘campus numérique’, Sciences Po Saint-Germain learning digital platform.
Our Spring semester was already well under way when the French government declared a state of emergency in an effort to suppress the covid-19 pandemic. The faculty members immediately adopted teaching methods better suited to the confinement.
In some instances, internships could not be done from home. Instead, the students afftected have been offered to conduct a research work aiming at understanding better one of the many aspects of France under lockdown.
After almost a month in this new set-up, we notice that our students remain committed to their studies, no matter the format of the classes. Some are facing challenges to study in good conditions; they are helped by their fellow students and benefit from a specific support by their pedagogical referent.
Because the lockdown exit calendar is still unknown, we have discussed with the faculty and the students’ representatives which format assessments should take. Together we have decided that all assessments will be offered online. We will ensure that no one is penalized by this new organisation.
With all the staff and students showing their reactivity, adaptability, empathy and solidarity, we have been mostly able to cope with the stressful and sometimes woeful impact of the current situation.
