Academic research

Most of our faculty members are ‘enseignants-chercheurs’, dedicating part of their time to teach and part to research. They bring the outcome of their research to students in their class, where students are also encouraged to grow their research skills and research experience.

Research labs

Two CNRS centers host the research of most of our faculty members : CESDIP and PRINTEMPS. Thanks to the quality of their lecturers and programs, these laboratories are well equipped to further the research on political science topics for which they are renowned.

About CESDIP

Under the tutelage of the CNRS, the Ministry of Justice, CY Cergy Paris University, and Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the CESDIP plays a prominent position in French research on the sociology of security and deviance. The lab is interdisciplinary, with a team composed of sociologists, economists, political science specialists and historians. Its researchers contribute to numerous national and international research programs in the following four areas :

  • Penal policies and penal institutions
  • Prevention and urban security
  • Migrations, minorities and discrimination
  • Deviances and civic engagement

About Printemps

Under the tutelage of the CNRS and Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the Printemps lab has earned an excellent international reputation for its work on the sociology of the professional world. Its research team concentrates on two complementary research study areas :

  • The professional environment: topics relative to workplace and territories, work-related institutions and work-related engagement, as well as professional expertise
  • Careers and career-related temporalities: temporalities of careers, life trajectories and socialization processes
